Bart (right) and Chris (left), the co-founders of Redbarn Smokehouse, never set out to start a business. They were just two guys who loved to smoke meats and share them with family and friends. But as they got better and better at their craft, they started getting more and more requests for their delicious barbecue.

At first, they just brushed it off as a hobby — something they did for fun. But as the requests kept coming, they started to realize that they might be onto something. They invested in some commercial smokers and a trailer, and before they knew it, they were selling their Texas-style barbecue all throughout Northwest Indiana and greater Chicagoland.

Now, Redbarn is a thriving business, with a loyal following of barbecue lovers throughout the Region. But for Bart and Chris, it's still about the love of the craft. They still approach their smoking with the same passion and attention to detail that they did back when they were just doing it for fun. And they still get a kick out of seeing people enjoy their food — because for them, that's what it's all about.

our smoking process

Smoking meat isn't just a means to an end — it's a labor of love, a craft we take very seriously.

We start by selecting the best cuts of meat we can find — pork, brisket, ribs, chicken, and sausage links. Texas-style means we use only traditional seasoning methods, with just the right balance of salt and pepper to let the natural flavor of the meat shine through.

Let’s talk about wood. We use hand-cut fresh wood from all over the region — hickory, oak, cherry, and apple — to create the perfect blend of smoke. Once the meat is seasoned, it's time for the smoking. We load it into our commercial smokers, where it will spend hours and hours soaking up that delicious smoky flavor. We don't rush the process because we know good barbecue takes time, and we’re willing to wait to get it just right.
